TSUNAMI DISASTER

A tsunami is a series of waves created when a body of water, such as an ocean, is rapidly displaced. Earthquakes, mass movements above or below water, some volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions, landslides, underwater earthquakes, large asteroid impacts and testing with nuclear weapons at sea all have the potential to generate a tsunami. The effects of a tsunami can be devastating due to the immense volumes of water and energy involved. Since meteorites are small, they will not generate a tsunami. It is not known what caused the Storegga sediments to fail. It may have been due to overloading of the sediments causing them to become unstable and they then failed solely as a result of being overloaded. It is also possible that an earthquake caused the sediments to become unstable and then fail. Another theory is that a release of gas hydrates (methane etc.,) caused the slump.

tsunami is a big natural disaster and can cause a lost in life and materials. once it attack, there's only a small chance for human to survive. tsunami had attack Malaysia once in 2004. it cause a great lost. many people suffer and died. the survivor need a lot of support to continue their life. during that time, many individuals, government and non-government organization and companies give a hand on them. only after the disaster the government take a precaution step to detect the tsunami before it attack.

DRAGON BALL ANIMEDragon Ball is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. It was originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 through 1995, and later the 519 individual chapters were published into 42 tankōbon volumes by Shueisha. Inspired by the Chinese folk novel Journey to the West, it follows the adventures of Son Goku from his childhood through middle age as he trains in martial arts and explores the world in search of the seven mystical objects known as the Dragon Balls, which are known to grant any wish. Along his trip, Goku meets several friends and fights against several villains who plan to get the Dragon Balls to grant their wishes and some who aim to conquer the world.Since its release, Dragon Ball has become one of most popular manga series of its time in both Japan and North America. It enjoys a high readership, with over 150 million volumes of the series sold by 2007. Several manga artists have noted that the manga series was the inspiration for their own now popular works, including Naruto and One Piece. The anime is also highly popularly, ranking number 12 among the best anime series of all time in 2006. Reviewers praise the art, characterization, and humor of the manga story. The anime series have had more mixed reviews, with the first also praised for its characterizations, but the second was criticized for its long, repetitive fights, and the third series considered repetitive with childish fights and "goofy" character designs.

when it was showed in Malaysia, my younger brother and sister are the fan of this anime. every weekend, they will sit in front of the television and wait for the program. during this time, nobody can disturb them or change the channel. not even my mum. sometimes, our neighbour and our cousins will join them too. I'm not pretty sure what are so interesting about this anime, but for them this is the best cartoon ever. i also watch a few episode of the anime to get the idea what is the story is all about. for me it just an anime that brings the same kind of plot: a fight between two sides. i can't even tell which one is the bad and which one is the good side. to me, they are all the same. from my point of view, this story only teach kids about violence.

CARIBBEAN ISLAND.

The Caribbean is a region consisting of the Caribbean Sea, its islands (most of which enclose the sea), and the surrounding coasts. The region is located southeast of North America, east of Central America, and to the north of South America.Situated largely on the Caribbean Plate, the region comprises more than 7,000 islands, islets, reefs, and cays. Also called the West Indies, since Christopher Columbus landed here in 1492 believing he was in the Indies (in Asia), the region consists of the Antilles, divided into the larger Greater Antilles which bound the sea on the north and the Lesser Antilles on the south and east (including the Leeward Antilles), and the Bahamas. The Caribbean islands are classified as one of Conservation International's biodiversity hotspots because they support exceptionally diverse ecosystems, ranging from montane cloud forests to cactus scrublands. These ecosystems have been devastated by deforestation and human encroachment. The hotspot contains dozens of highly threatened species, ranging from birds, to mammals and reptiles. Popular examples include the Puerto Rican Amazon, two species of solenodon (giant shrews) in Cuba and Hispaniola, as well as the Cuban crocodile. The hotspot is also remarkable for the decimation of its fauna.

Caribbean is a beautiful island. i fall in love with this island when i watch a bollywood movie when i was in standard 5. I'm, so excited to see the beautiful island with the blue crystal clear water. it captured my eyes and my hearth. during that time, i really wish that i can go there and experience it's nature myself. besides the island and ocean, there also many beautiful waterfall here. this island is the best place to spend a holiday and escape from the daily busy life at town.

PANDA

The giant panda, a black-and-white bear, has a body typical of bears. It has black fur on ears, eye patches, muzzle, legs, and shoulders. The rest of the animal's coat is white. Although scientists do not know why these unusual bears are black and white, some speculate that the bold coloring provides effective camouflage into their shade-dappled snowy and rocky surroundings. The panda's thick, woolly coat keeps it warm in the cool forests of its habitat. Giant pandas have large molar teeth and strong jaw muscles for crushing tough bamboo. Many people find these chunky, lumbering animals to be cute, but giant pandas can be as dangerous as any other bear.Giant pandas live in broad leaf and coniferous forests with a dense understory of bamboo, at elevations between 5,000 and 10,000 feet. Torrential rains or dense mist throughout the year characterizes these forests, often shrouded in heavy clouds.Giant pandas live in a few mountain ranges in central China, in Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces. They once lived in lowland areas, but farming, forest clearing, and other development now restrict giant pandas to the mountains.

panda is a cute animals and a little bit slow in motion. I've remember the movie 'kung fu panda' that i watch with my sister. she really love the the character of panda in this movie. it is so adorable. although we can't find panda in Malaysia, it is lot a problem to know about this animals. this article for example, provides a lot of information about this bear's family. but, it is so sad to know that human activities had cause this animal to come into extinction. a precaution need to be taken to make sure this animal didn't get the same future like dinosaurs.

'hide n seek'

The game starts with all players in a central location. One player is given the designation of "it". There are two portions to the game: the hiding - all the players, except "it", locate a place in which to hide, and the seeking - "it" attempts to locate at least one of the players. The overall objective is to not be discovered by "it".The hiding portion of the game begins with "it" using a method to avoid seeing the other players hiding, and counting out loud for a predetermined number of seconds, often with the aid of a word that takes about one second to say (e.g., "one-alligator, two-alligator..."). Meanwhile other players locate a place to hide. When the counting is completed, the "it" player usually announces the start of the seeking portion by shouting a phrase such as "Ready or not, here I come!". "It" then begins a search for the hiding players. When all players have been found or caught, the next game's "it" is usually the first player to be found or tagged attempting to reach home base safely. Alternatively, the players can agree that the last person to be discovered or tagged will become the next "it".

i was thinking about what article i should post on my blog when suddenly i remembered about my childhood time. i come from a big family. i have 5 siblings and 12 cousins. when we were kids, my cousins will came to my house. our house is like a gathering place for use. once we meet each other, we will do a lot of activities and games. one of our favourite games is hide and seek. we play it almost every week and we seldom until it is late in the evening or until my mum shout "come in or the ghost will hide you." ha ha..its so funny to think that we believe in what she say without any doubts and rushing into house. because that i am the youngest among us, i will fully depends to my brother to help me find the best place to hide. he will hide me first and only after that he will find a place for him. he will put me behind my mum's flower bush, behind a tree or my father's car or under the bench in the garden. it so enjoyable plus that time, our late cousin is still with us. all the memory brings us back to him.

THE TIBETANS

The Tibetan people are indigenous to Tibet and surrounding areas stretching from Central Asia in the North and West to Myanmar and China Proper in the East.Recent research shows that, although Tibetans living at high altitudes have no more oxygen in their blood than other people, they have 10 times more nitric oxide (NO) and double the forearm blood flow of low-altitude dwellers. Nitric oxide causes dilation of blood vessels allowing blood to flow more freely to the extremities and aids the release of oxygen to tissues. This may also help explain the typical rosy cheeks of high-altitude dwellers.Polyandry is practiced in some parts of Tibet, where a woman may marry her husband's brother. This is usually done to avoid division of property and provide financial security. However, monogamy is more common throughout Tibet. Marriages are sometimes arranged by the parents, if the son or daughter has not picked their own partner by a certain age.

it is so interesting to learn about other ethnic in this world. one of the minority tribes is the Tibetans who live at the high altitude land. it is so amazing to know how they can survive at such place and have o blood conditions differ from others. the presence of 10 times more nitric oxide in their blood is something that can't be explain. their tradition of marriage are also interesting where they practice the polyandry. this is something new to me. overall this article got a lot of information and really help me to know this tribe better.

roses

A rose is a perennial flowering shrub or vine of the genus Rosa, within the family Rosaceae, that contains over 100 species. The species form a group of erect shrubs, and climbing or trailing plants, with stems that are often armed with sharp thorns. Most are native to Asia, with smaller numbers of species native to Europe, North America, and northwest Africa. Natives, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and fragrance. The leaves are alternate and pinnately compound, with sharply toothed oval-shaped leaflets. The plants fleshy edible fruit is called a rose hip. Rose plants range in size from tiny, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach 20 metres in height. Species from different parts of the world easily hybridize, which has given rise to the many types of garden roses.Attar of rose is the steam-extracted essential oil from rose flowers that has been used in perfumes for centuries. Rose water, made from the rose oil, is widely used in Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine. Rose hips are occasionally made into jam, jelly, and marmalade, or are brewed for tea, primarily for their high Vitamin C content. They are also pressed and filtered to make rose hip syrup. Rose hips are also used to produce Rose hip seed oil, which is used in skin products and some makeup products.

my mum really enjoy gardening and one of her favourite plant is roses. that is why i am interested to post an article regarding this plant. our garden has a lot of roses especially the bridal rose, a small light pink rose with a strong fragrance. before we move into the current village we live now, we live at quarters and our yard was so small. my mum used to planted this flower in a flower pot. but now,we have it on the ground around our house. my mum was really happy to see all her plants are healthy and produce flowers. once it grows well, we don't need to keep a good care about it because it is a strong plant. we just need to waters it regularly and fertilizes it once in a fortnight. this plants has a various colour of flower such as red, yellow, dark purple, blue, brown and pink. its also various in sizes. roses bring a lot of meanings to people. they represent their feeling through the flower that comes in various colours and amount. during a special celebration such as mother's day, valentine day or graduation day, roses are the most popular flower to give as a gift. the flower also brings happiness to those who receive it. besides that, this flower also been processes into a syrup and were enjoyed around the world.

Halloween, or Hallowe’en, is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses", carving Jack-o'-lanterns, reading scary stories and watching horror movies. Irish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth centurHalloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain. The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is sometimes regarded as the "Celtic New Year".Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient pagans to take stock of supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them. The carved pumpkin, lit by a candle inside, is one of Halloween's most prominent symbols in America, and is commonly called a jack-o'-lantern. Originating in Europe, these lanterns were first carved from a turnip or rutabaga. Believing that the head was the most powerful part of the body containing the spirit and the knowledge, the Celts used the "head" of the vegetable to frighten off any superstitions.Halloween costumes are traditionally those of monsters such as ghosts, skeletons, witches, and devils. Costumes are also based on themes other than traditional horror, such as those of characters from television shows, movies and other pop culture icons.

when it comes to Halloween, the first thing i got in my mind are people walking down the street with a weird costume, go from door to door and collect candies and also a head carved pumpkins. but after reading this articles, i have know that Halloween is a celebration that means more than that. people in the past celebrate Halloween in other to survive. from my opinion, Halloween is an interesting celebration. you can wear any kinds of costume and doesn't need to afraid that people will complain it ugly or bad, walk from door to door to collect candies and play games, listen to ghost stories and wacth a horror movies. during this celebration, you can see various kind of costume that is sometimes beautiful, freaky and also weird. i am also impressed with their creativity carving the pumpkins into a freaky face. the presence of lantern during the Halloween night also make the street look beautiful. during this celebration, there are also special meals served such as candy apples and fruit cake or also known as king cake. for children who celebrate Halloween, I'm sure it is the moment that they are waiting for every years.

Ice cream or ice-cream (originally iced cream) is a frozen dessert made from dairy products, such as milk and cream, combined with flavorings and sweeteners, such as sugar, and possible other ingredients. This mixture is stirred slowly while cooling to prevent large ice crystals from forming; the result is a smoothly textured ice cream. In the United States, ice cream made with just cream, sugar, and a flavoring (usually fruit) is sometimes referred to as "Philadelphia style" ice cream. Ice creams made with eggs, usually in the form of custards, are "French" ice creams. Before the development of modern refrigeration, ice cream was a luxury item reserved for special occasions. Making ice cream was quite laborious. Ice was cut from lakes and ponds during the winter and stored in large heaps, in holes in the ground, or in wood-frame ice houses, insulated by straw. Many farmers and plantation owners, including U.S. Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, cut and stored ice in the winter for use in the summer. Frederic Tudor of Boston turned ice harvesting and shipping into big business, cutting ice in New England and shipping it around the world.Ice cream was made by hand in a large bowl placed inside a tub filled with ice and salt. This was called the pot-freezer method. French confectioners refined the pot-freezer method, making ice cream in a sorbtierre (a covered pail with a handle attached to the lid). In the pot-freezer method, the temperature of the ingredients is reduced by the mixture of crushed ice and salt. The salt water is cooled by the ice, and the action of the salt on the ice causes it to (partially) melt, absorbing latent heat and bringing the mixture below the freezing point of pure water. The immersed container can also make better thermal contact with the salty water and ice mixture than it could with ice alone.

I'm sure no ones will refused if they are offered with a simply tasteful ice cream. ice cream comes with various flavor, topping , size and texture. it also from each country to another. i still remember when i was a kid, buying an ice cream from a motorcycle vendor is our daily routine after school. the vendor who always wait outside the school gate is our main target every day. its so refreshing to have a bite of cold sweet ice cream during the hot day. I'm sure my friends feel the same too. it is so interesting to know the making process of earlier ice cream. it is so hard and complicated seeing that the fridge are not invented yet. even though the process are complicated, it is worthy when people can have a taste of the delicious dessert. nowadays people can enjoy ice cream easily as it can be found easily around us. more over, to produce an ice cream, we don't have to collect the ice from the pond anymore. thanks to the invention of refrigerator that make our life more beautiful with this tasty meals.

Migraine is a neurological syndrome characterized by altered bodily experiences, painful headaches, and nausea. It is a common condition which affects women more frequently than men.

The typical migraine headache is one-sided and pulsating, lasting 4 to 72 hours. Accompanying complaints are nausea and vomiting, and a heightened sensitivity to bright lights (photophobia) and noise (hyperacusis). Approximately one third of people who experience migraines get a preceding aura, in which a patient may sense a strange light or unpleasant smell.

Although the exact cause of migraine remains unknown, the most widespread theory is that it is a disorder of the serotonergic control system. Recently, PET scans have demonstrated the aura to coincide with spreading cortical depression after an episode of greatly increased blood flow (up to 300% higher than baseline). There also appear to be migraine variants that originate in the brainstem and involve dysfunction in calcium and potassium ion transport between cell membranes. Genetic factors may also contribute. Studies on twins show that genes have a 60 to 65% influence on the development of migraine.Fluctuating hormone levels show a relation to migraine in several ways: three quarters of adult migraine patients are female while migraine affects approximately equal numbers of boys and girls before puberty, and migraine is known to disappear during pregnancy in a substantial number of sufferers.

The treatment of migraine begins with simple painkillers for headache and anti-emetics for nausea, and avoidance of triggers if present. Specific anti-migraine drugs can be used to treat migraine. If the condition is severe and frequent enough, preventative drugs might be considered.

this article is about migraine. a common kind of headache suffer by a lot of people. I'm had a migraine when i was 16 years old. once it attack me, i feel like I'm gonna die. its so painful and at one stage it effect my sight. during night, i can't see things clearly due to the present of bright light and i have to wear an eyes glasses. my doctor advised me to take an ibuprofen and propanolol and from that time onwards, my life fully depends to those pills every time the pain attack me. this article have a lot of information about migraine to people. its also told us about the main cause of migraine and the treatments the patient usually have. for those who suffer a serious migraine, they had to avoid several substance like caffeine and mono sodium glutamate. anyway, in today's advanced technology, there are a lot of solution for this ache and one do not have to worry about it anymore.

During the early 1990s, screenwriters Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio conceived of writing a film based on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. In their original pitch, Will Turner was the lead role, and the villainous pirates were searching for treasure. Steven Spielberg expressed interest, and wanted to cast Bill Murray, Robin Williams or Steve Martin as Jack Sparrow. Disney was already making Muppet Treasure Island at the time and did not give permission for the film to be made because the two had similar storylines.
Disney had
Jay Wolpert write a script based on the ride, which producer Jerry Bruckheimer rejected, feeling it was, "a straight pirate movie." Stuart Beattie was brought in to rewrite the script in March 2002, due to his knowledge of piracy, and later that month Elliott and Rossio were brought in. Elliott and Rossio were inspired by the opening narration of the Pirates of the Caribbean theme park ride, and decided to give the film a supernatural edge. As the budget rose, Michael Eisner and Bob Iger threatened to cancel the film, though Bruckheimer changed their minds when he showed them concept art and animatics.
In May 2002
Gore Verbinski signed on to direct Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush signed on the following month to star.Shooting for The Curse of the Black Pearl began on October 9, 2002 and wrapped by March 2003. Before its release, many had expected the film to be a flop, as the pirate genre had not been successful for years, that the film was based on a theme park ride, and that Johnny Depp rarely made a big film. However The Curse of the Black Pearl became both a critical and commercial success.

Pirates of Carribbean was a great pirates trilogy i've ever seen. This story are much more interesting compare to Indiana Jones and James Bond series. It was an interesting adventourous movie and i like it's storyline very much. With this article, i can knew a lot of facts regarding the film especially about in the making works. Based on the video of the several presentation that I watched, I conclude that Ed Tate is the best presenter among all. For me, Ed Tate are very good in delivering a speech. He used a wide range of language and wide vocabulary. He also used a simple word in his speech and that make it easy to understand. His pronunciation are also clear and correct. His voice tone are various instead of using a flat tone. He also has a good body language. He was able to control the the stage and did not stick to one position only. He also got a good sense of humour and this capture his audience's interest and make his speech become more interesting. We can see that the audience responded to him and this show that his presentation are good.
On the other hand, I think that the Microsoft dude is the worst presenter among the rest of them. He used a flat tone in delivering his speech and this make the audience lost their interest to listen to him. He also does not has a body language. He did not move even a step. He just stand on the stage, stick to one position and wrapped his arm around his body. This guy also did not has a sense of humour and stay serious for the whole presentation. Its so obvious that the audience are not interested to his speech seeing that they did not responded to him.

For this second assignment,I was ask to give comments about the article of famous person that I search. This article was writed by Dr Robert A.Hatch from University of Florida. In my opinion, this article is very interesting. It contains a lot of information about Sir Isaac Newton. This article really help me to know my icon better. Beside that this article also help me a lot in my assignment. Furthermore, this article has complete details about Newton compare to other articles that i read. It not only covers about Newton's life at school but also tell us about his character, personality and all his works. It use of language also easy to understand. In conclusion, I really like this article.

Newton's Article

Newton, Sir Isaac (1642-1727), English natural philosopher, generally regarded as the most original and influential theorist in the history of science. In addition to his invention of the infinitesimal calculus and a new theory of light and color, Newton transformed the structure of physical science with his three laws of motion and the law of universal gravitation. As the keystone of the scientific revolution of the 17th century, Newton's work combined the contributions of Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, Descartes, and others into a new and powerful synthesis. Three centuries later the resulting structure - classical mechanics - continues to be a useful but no less elegant monument to his genius.

Life & Character - Isaac Newton was born prematurely on Christmas day 1642 (4 January 1643, New Style) in Woolsthorpe, a hamlet near Grantham in Lincolnshire. The posthumous son of an illiterate yeoman (also named Isaac), the fatherless infant was small enough at birth to fit 'into a quartpot.' When he was barely three years old Newton's mother, Hanna (Ayscough), placed her first born with his grandmother in order to remarry and raise a second family with Barnabas Smith, a wealthy rector from nearby North Witham. Much has been made of Newton's posthumous birth, his prolonged separation from his mother, and his unrivaled hatred of his stepfather. Until Hanna returned to Woolsthorpe in 1653 after the death of her second husband, Newton was denied his mother's attention, a possible clue to his complex character. Newton's childhood was anything but happy, and throughout his life he verged on emotional collapse, occasionally falling into violent and vindictive attacks against friend and foe alike.

With his mother's return to Woolsthorpe in 1653, Newton was taken from school to fulfill his birthright as a farmer. Happily, he failed in this calling, and returned to King's School at Grantham to prepare for entrance to Trinity College, Cambridge. Numerous anecdotes survive from this period about Newton's absent-mindedness as a fledging farmer and his lackluster performance as a student. But the turning point in Newton's life came in June 1661 when he left Woolsthorpe for Cambridge University. Here Newton entered a new world, one he could eventually call his own.

Although Cambridge was an outstanding center of learning, the spirit of the scientific revolution had yet to penetrate its ancient and somewhat ossified curriculum. Little is known of Newton's formal studies as an undergraduate, but he likely received large doses of Aristotle as well as other classical authors. And by all appearances his academic performance was undistinguished. In 1664 Isaac Barrow, Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge, examined Newton's understanding of Euclid and found it sorely lacking. We now know that during his undergraduate years Newton was deeply engrossed in private study, that he privately mastered the works of René Descartes, Pierre Gassendi, Thomas Hobbes, and other major figures of the scientific revolution. A series of extant notebooks shows that by 1664 Newton had begun to master Descartes' Géométrie and other forms of mathematics far in advance of Euclid's Elements. Barrow, himself a gifted mathematician, had yet to appreciate Newton's genius.

In 1665 Newton took his bachelor's degree at Cambridge without honors or distinction. Since the university was closed for the next two years because of plague, Newton returned to Woolsthorpe in midyear. There, in the following 18 months, he made a series of original contributions to science. As he later recalled, 'All this was in the two plague years of 1665 and 1666, for in those days I was in my prime of age for invention, and minded mathematics and philosophy more than at any time since.' In mathematics Newton conceived his 'method of fluxions' (infinitesimal calculus), laid the foundations for his theory of light and color, and achieved significant insight into the problem of planetary motion, insights that eventually led to the publication of his Principia (1687).

To give an excellent performance in various field i involves is what i dream of and that is why i choose Sir Isaac Newton as my icon. From my point of view, Newton did not born as a genius man but he worked really hard to achieve all his success. Newton was born fatherless and his mother left him to his grandmother. His childhood time is not as colourful as others. When he entered a university, he has to worked hard to overcome his financial problem before been offered a scholarship. Although he has to go through a lot of hardship,he never give up but instead of it, he worked hard and come out with a lot of success in various field ;-mathematics,optics,physic and chemistry. I really admired the way he turned all his problem into success. He make the best outcome from the worst. I really hope that one day i will success in my field and bring a lot of beneficial changes to people around me as newton did. I might not be as brilliant as he is,but for sure i will do my best to achieve my goal and brings benefits to others. I mill make all the hardship and challenges that i faced in my life as a platform for me to work harder and perform better.
